One Plus Banana
In software there is a term tech people love to use: “deterministic.”
It simply means you get the same outcome given the same starting conditions.
1 + 1 = 2. Always.
You may not realize it, but a lot of the software you use is made up of small deterministic systems co-mingling with each other.
Humans are not deterministic.
We get curveballs.
Somebody somewhere down the line decided we must add 1 + “banana” and still somehow get to 2.
That is one place I think AI agents get interesting.
They can handle the curveballs without throwing out the deterministic systems that already work.
Messy app ecosystems and weak or missing integrations are exactly where agents across tools can earn their keep.
The goal isn’t to replace all the software.
It’s to make the software you already have work better when the real world inevitably gets messy.
